I remember my professors at the AUC talking about how difficult it was to get published as an Arab female writer if they weren’t writing about either: 

• oppression, or
• escaping oppression

Proof of that is above. God forbid there be some other story of interest to tell.

i actually own one of these books and another one i think by an author on here and now that i see my name (Nadia) i’m thrilled to read that one. but yes i am always pissed that the only books i see about us are the ones of 7 yr olds sold to men etc etc ugh
